Bored

Right now I am at work and the markets are closed. I have four lamps to turn off, then I need to shut down my computer, throw away the trash from my treat from the bakery, pour out the old coffee, then set the alarm.

That's my update.

Love you all. Let's get back on this... kk? K.

A day in the life...

Well, clearly the Campbell ladies have not been alive at five since around February of this year. But, the good news is we have fewer wrinkles and smaller bags under the eyes due to an increase in hours of sleep. I have taken the responsibility to "Revive Alive at Five" by taking the time to share a little bit about my day. I hope someone reads this.

My day always begins with a French press (for all of you who were expecting me to say "the Bible"...well, that is how the day ends). I wake up, heat the water for four minutes, and then poor in my desired amount of coffee for a strong brew. I don't even have to measure the grinds anymore because I know that if the amount of grinds is more than the amount of water, it will be good.

After I make my coffee, I get ready for the day. This usually means I throw on my scrubs and fix up my hair. This usually takes me about twenty minutes because I have to re-find everything I misplaced the day before. I know I should put things back where they belong (I needed to put this in just in case Mom visits the blog), but some mornings I just don't have the will be to organized. The last thing I do is snap on my name tag and grab my therapy bag.

On the way out the door I usually remember that I need lunch. I run to the refrigerator, grab two cheese sticks, a yogurt, and an orange- then I leave (but not without grabbing my coffee).

When I get in my car I always turn on the heat. On high. You see, in an effort to save money on my heating bill- I try to keep to heat very low. Therefore, I abuse the heater in my car each morning in an effort to thaw from the chill of the previous night.

On the way to the clinic, I play the radio. I can generally be heard serenading myself with the top five hits or the latest country tune. Somedays I use my car time to catch up on phone conversations and sometimes I eat breakfast. Car time is one of the only times during the day where I know exactly what I am supposed to do and how it should be done. I embrace that.

The rest of the day flows on like a flooded river. Everything is muddy and blurred together. At the end of the day I arrive where I began- ready to prepare a decaf French press and sit in my comfy chair with a good book and my Bible. I am continually amazed at the grace God gives throughout this busy chapter that is truly His strength in my weakness.

So, what is your day like?

2.15.12 CCS

Does 5:59 a.m. count as being alive at 5? Actually Ellie has slept "through the night" up to this very moment. How grateful am I? VERY. She is such a sweet blessing. I must say her sleep schedule at night time has been super!

Yesterday was a wonderful day. Valentine's Day is such a commercialized, Hallmark day that some times I have a hard time loving it as such a "special" day (I really do prefer days like Christmas and Easter, not that they aren't commercialized in our society...but just sayin'.). However, every year the day comes, and I am reminded just how thankful I am, first of all for the love Jesus has shown me in making me His daughter; and then I am overwhelmed at the gift God has given to me in giving me Dan as my husband. I am so grateful! And so in love :). We had a fun morning celebrating Josh's birthday at Chickfila and then enjoyed the Clemson basketball game last night. Can't beat five dollar tickets (and a quadruple date with Alli, Sarah and Lacey and their "boys").

As I reflect on the thought of love, even this morning, so many things come to mind. Of course 1 Corinthians 13 is the obvious "love chapter" in the Bible...I am reading a book right now (just started) called Learning to Love Like Jesus Loved that takes 1 Cor. 13 and pairs it with passages from Jesus' ministry in the Gospels. I have been so convicted about my love for Him. It is easy for me to do...but truly do I LOVE. I am praying the Spirit will continue to convict me as I study this out. 1 Cor. 13 is such a familiar passage that sometimes I think I don't slow down to truly meditate and then let the Spirit change me through it. So, pray for me!!!

Happy Wednesday. Love you all.

And Sarah...from your last post...I APPROVE. That is all I will say. Well, that, and productivity in the office has dwindled slightly (just slightly though, and it is ALL GOOD)!

This was a great post! Now somebody show me up! :)

Prayer for each of US

[Greeting]
[1:1] Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,
To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the overseers and deacons:
[2] Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
[Thanksgiving and Prayer]
[3] I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, [4] always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, [5] because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. [6] And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. [7] It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. [8] For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. [9] And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, [10] so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, [11] filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

(Philippians 1:1-11 ESV)

Last night Dad shared this passage at Bible study and it was a real encouragement. What the Lord taught me through it is that I NEED THE BODY of Christ. I should be yearning for fellowship with other believers (and sisters count in this... we are not only sisters by blood, but through Christ), and we should be constantly seeking to encourage each other through prayer and fellowship.

SO, today... I pray this for each of you. And am thankful that God has promised each of us sisters that the work that God has begun in our lives WILL BE COMPLETED. :)

Amen. :) Love to you all!! We are headed out the door now to the mountains and wish you could ALL BE HERE!!!!!

Ephesians 1:18-19

18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might

I LOVE this passage in Scripture... The idea that jumps out is that we do not just need to ask for the power of God in our lives, but we must be aware that power is already available to us at salvation. The same power the raised Christ from the dead is already mine in Christ. It really puts things into perspective when I am trying to do things on
my own or for myself...there is a difference. When instead I can choose to live today, availing myself to God's power already working in me, knowing that my motivation can be to seek His glory above all--IN CHRIST! Have a great day!

Psalm 127:1

Psalm 127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Aren't you thankful that we have a purpose? And that purpose is fulfilled in the strength and enablement from  the Lord. I know I am reminded how often I end up becoming frustrated because I just do not have enough time or energy to accomplish something...you know what, in my own strength it is in vain!

Praising the Lord today for the strength He gives, for the work He accomplishes and for the truth of His Word. Praying that I will be faithful in the tasks at hand for today, realizing that Christ's using me is part of His building. May He give wisdom in the menial taks at hand and receive glory for what is accomplished today.

1.13.11

Ugh. To be still is so difficult some times! To be still and read, that is. It is easy to get distracted with non-essential things like facebook and blogging. So, I am signing off for the night...it's off to read Job 32-37. I have really enjoyed the book of Job!!!

1.11.2011

It's been a few days...I know. The snow has just totally messed me up :). Not really. I have been reading in Job, though, and I am still on track. Praise the Lord!!! One verse I read last night from Job 23. V. 10 says But He knows the way that I take. When He has tried me, I shall come forth as refined gold.

This verse is one of those that I have heard often, but haven't ever really realized the context. One thing I thought about as I am reading through Job is that trials and difficulties are nothing new. Really, since Adam sinned, life has been tough. I think God does that to remind us that yes, we are sinful people living in a sinful world. And I think He does it to remind us that our citizenship is in heaven! Until that day, He does know our way. He does try us, and He desires to purify us...to make us more like Christ!

1.7.11

Turning 28 just seems like youth is fleeing, however youthfulness is a mindset, i am certain :). As life continues to pass, I am so thankful for the faithfulness of our heavenly Father and His love for me. That is something that I am growing more and more to be grateful for!

I read Job 14-16 tonight and in ch. 14 he deals with the fact that death is a sure thing that we will face. Not a pleasant thought, I guess from our human eyes, but thinking of seeing Jesus face to face is a wonderful thought! What a hope we have in Him!

1.5.11

Tonight Dan gave us a devotion at church from James 1…counting it joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that God’s purpose is to make us complete, mature believers. And v. 7 tells us to ask for wisdom, which we do lack. I must confess even the small trials are included in the command to count it all joy, and I very often fail. It’s been one of those looonnnngggg weeks. One that I will be glad to finish, but I want to finish well, counting it all joy!

1.4.2011

My reading brings me today to Job 1-5. An amazing story. To think that a man who faced so much difficulty would respond as Job responded just baffles my mind. In fact, my distress of yesterday (not being able to locate some ppwk) that continues, pales in comparison to what Job faced. Losing ALL of his earthly posessions, his children.

What is Job's response? From Job 1: 20Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. 21And he said, "Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD(AI) gave, and the LORD has taken away;(AJ) blessed be the name of the LORD."

22In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.

How are my responses to the "difficulties" I face?

1.3.11

I am getting ready to go read, but the Lord gave me Lamentations 3:22-24 today. Great is His faithfulness. His mercies are new every single day!
Praise God

1.2.2011

How strange it must have been when God told Noah to build the ark. He was going to destroy the earth. Would this make sense to the average person? No. In fact, reading later on we see that people laughed at Noah. So how did Noah get over it? How was he able to obey? Reading in Genesis I am challenged by the thought that Noah had continuous fellowship with God. Considering the wickedness of man and the influences that were pervasive, this is challenging to me. To think that in the midst of all potential distractions, Noah walked with God (Gen 6:9). And as far as we know from scripture he was the only one, and God would spare he and his family. Noah found grace in the eyes of God (6:8).

Does my heavenly Father know me as one who walks with him continuosly? What a testimony Noah must have had! What is my testimony before the world around me?

1.1.11

What are my goals for this year? I am not a big fan of Resolutions as I never keep them. But I have 2 goals...
1. From Psalm 1--my DELIGHT would be in the Law of the Lord *God's Word*
2. To Grow in my prayer life.

I plan to follow a reading schedule that takes me through the Bible chronologically. The prayer part...I am going to work through the Valley of Vision and then our goal as a family is to remember certain things as we pray! What goals do you have?
I have a few others, but I will save them for now!
